Full budgetHome-buying budget
questions.
The full budget calculator separates the cash you prepare before completion from the mortgage balance.
What does “cash to prepare” include?
It adds the deposit, the illustrated standard stamp duty and the additional costs you enter, such as legal, survey, valuation, moving or contingency amounts.
Why is the mortgage shown separately?
The mortgage balance is the price less your deposit in this illustration. It is not added to the upfront cash total because it is the borrowing amount, not an extra purchase cost.
Which figures should I enter myself?
Enter your own quotes or estimates for legal work, registration, survey, valuation, moving and any contingency. Do not assume the example amounts are what you will pay.
Can the budget change after I start?
Yes. Quotes, rates, property details, taxes and timing can change. Revisit the budget whenever you receive new information.
Does this replace professional advice?
No. Use it to organise questions and scenarios. Confirm real costs and obligations with the appropriate lender, solicitor, tax adviser or other professional.
